Decisions in Marriage
The discussion we had yesterday was really good about decisions in marriage. I am engaged and we are going through marriage counseling right now and I think each person in the relationship should be responsible for decisions in the relationship. In my relationship I make about 99% of the decsions but when my fiance does feel strongly about something then we go with what he wants. We have been together for over 6 years and me making majority of the decisions has really worked for us. It may not work for all couples but it does for us and we are both very happy with the way our relationship works!

Communication
Today's class on communication was really good. When my fiance and I took the FOCCUS test to prepare us for marriage there were two sections that we scored 1oo% on and the communication part was one them. The test is compiled of 200 questions and we scored 100% in communication and I was so excited. Our priest told us one of the main reasons we scored so well is because we have been dating for such a long time. It's really good to date someone for a long time bacause you really get to know eachother and you discuss/communicate many, many topics and you learn about the other half. Comincation is a vital part of a healthy marriage/realtionship and it has to be present in the realtionship for the couple to function correctly.

Mate Selection
I really enjoyed today's lecture on mate selection. Dr. Hollist talked a lot about being engaged and what you need to go through for that. I got engaged last November and I knew exactly what he was talking about. He talked a lot about the FOCCUS test for engaged couples to take for preparation for marriage and my fiance and I have already taken it. We scored very well on it and our priest who is couseling us told us it was probably because we have been dating for so long. We have been dating for 6 years and have talked about everything and then some regarding relationships, family and marriage. I would highly reccommend for anyone who is about to get engaged to tkae the FOCCUS test because it makes you talk about a lot of issues that should be talked about before a couple gets engaged.

TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am stressed for the test on Thursday only because I am not sure what to expect. I am not sure how Dr. Hollist is going to word the questions and exactly what information we need to know and what information should we not focus on as much?! I really like that Cody gave us essay questions for the test so we can prepare ourselves for that portion of the test. Everyone, good luck and have fun studying!!!!!!

Single Parents
I thought Thursday's lecture on single parenthood was GREAT! My fiance is from a single mother family and when he found out that his parents were getting a divorce, he couldn't have been happier. Mike, my fiance, is an extremely successful manager at a screen printing shop and loves it. Mike is still very close to both of his parents and both of his parents are much happier than they were when they were married. Since Mikes mom was a single mother she wanted to make darn sure her two boys were raised right with traditional values, and they were. Both boys have grown up to be upstanding citizens that make their own way in life. I know and have heard all the negative statistics on single parenthood but sometimes it's not always as bad as the media and people make it out to be!
